The first time I saw these velvet shoes was at Nordstrom Rack about 2 weeks ago. I was really torn on wether or not to get them. Even though I knew they were unique, I was still unsure about the velvet and I felt kinda bad about buying another pair of black shoes (I have a problem). So I didn’t buy them and I told myself that if I was still dreaming about them by the next time I hit up the Rack, and they still had them, I would buy them- then that’s exactly what happened *too many smiles*!!
I knew the perfect way to take these velvet shoes in to summer, while still keeping all the attention on them, was to go nuts with texture, and keep it simple with colors. I went with a jersey knit basic black tee, silky black and olive green shorts, and a patent leather black bag.
Another thing that I think really went in to this overall ensemble was by separating the shoes from the whole outfit with all this leg! I usually don’t pull a shorts-with-heels combo but I think it really worked out this time.
A lot of these items are kinda old, or out of season, so I’m going to link to my favorite updated choices for you!
Basic Black Tees: Knitted Frill Tee (too obsessed with the knitted fit and 90’s frill) // Jersey Pocket Tee (also jersey, also pocket) // Women’s Madewell Slub Pocket V-Neck (v-neck version)
Olive Shorts: D-Ring Belted Shorts (topshop always knows wassup) // Linen (perf for summer) // Hinge Utility Shorts (my total faves)
Velvet Shoes: Charlotte Olympia Flats (too adorable for words) // Balenciaga Pointy Toe Bootie (such a victorian vibe) // Dolce & Gabbana Mary Jane Pump (that red velvet on point)
Black Bags: Kate Spade (perfect affordable option) // Rebecca Minkoff (edgier style with a more gold accents) // Chloe ‘Small Faye’ Shoulder Bag (my absolute dream bag please someone buy it for me *wink*)
