The Bob

It might be fair to say I’m obsessed with cutting my hair… but I like to think of it more as a hobby 🙂 My most recent hair cut was experimenting with a blunt midi cut (see that story here), and don’t get me wrong, I loved it. I did notice however that maybe I didn’t have the best hair texture for it. Without styling it was difficult to manage, and after a few weeks I ended up with a serious case of “triangle head” (If you don’t know what that means, let me fill you in: people with thick/wavy/or curly hair who get blunt cuts, of any cut with long layers, can end up with hair that’s much thicker at the bottom. This of course makes your head look like a triangle) To solve my new found problem I went to the internet for new cuts!

Inspiration

Luckily with a lot of time scrolling through Pinterest, I realized what I needed was short layers to lift my volume and smooth my ends. I started searching cuts that were above the shoulders with short layers and these were my favorites, and the ones I showed my stylist, Adrian:

Something I noticed while searching was that my favorite looks were straight or had loose waves. I knew that over the summer I would not be interested in slaving over the hot tools for half an hour a day, so I started looking in to Keratin treatments and Brazilian Blowouts. I chose my salon’s ‘Keratin Blowdry’ which was a 30 minute session that would last for about 4-6 weeks.

Before

I had Adrian snap a few pics of my hair freshly brushed out. As you can tell it’s much heavier at the bottom and not very smooth.

I then showed her all my inspiration pics to get her thoughts on which would work best with my hair texture and lifestyle. This is definitley something I would suggest all women do! Instead of just bringing one picture, bring a few that are similar and let your stylist pick the best! This was I’m never disappointed 🙂

After

And this is after! I was so thrilled with the cut – I absolutely love having my hair above my shoulders again! After getting my blowdry I couldn’t wash my hair for 2 whole days, nor could I clip it, pull it up, or tuck it behind my ears 😦 That was probably the hardest part, but I’m loving the results so far! It takes me about 10 minutes to blowdry my hair and about 5 to flat iron it! I’m not sure how long I’ll keep up the treatments, but I am definitely glad I got one for summer ❤
